It is as easy as that, become a slip holder at the Washburn Marina and secure your future at the Marina. Becoming a slip holder provides long range benefits to those boat owners that anticipate boating in the Chequamegon Bay and Apostle Islands for the coming years.
Not only does the investment in a slip purchase pay itself back when the day comes to re-sell it, but the annual cost is substantially less than renting. The recent annual maintenance fees are listed below. Further, when improvements and changes are planned for the Marina, the Washburn Harbor Commission invites slip holder input.
The Washburn Marina is
comprised of 138 slips, of which 100 are individually held. The balance is owned by the City of
Washburn. Of the 138 slips, 60 or more (45% of total) are used
by the people that hold the slip. The
balance is rented annually, either by the marina or directly by the slip
holder. These numbers indicate a strong
level of participation by slip holders; it is truly a community within a
community.
Interested parties make an offer on the desired slip. When a price is agreed upon, the paperwork is squared away and you become a slip holder with the transfer of deed recorded at with Bayfield County Register of Deeds, just as with a real estate transaction. If desired, title insurance is available. Property tax is included in the annual maintenance fee.
